Excellent, Darwinian, I hope you are richly rewarded for today's buy very soon.
And that's excellent info that they would not sell it to you at your bid.
My feeling is that there was a lot of short covering on that high-volume day earlier this week. They don't seem to be motivated to slap it down -- probably waiting for the close to pull their usual dirty tricks.
