A generous interpretation would be this :
Pershing has a small paid staff . . ( relative to the amount of work being done ) . .and wants to do each thing it does 100% correctly. . . . . . I am ( sadly ) a perfectionist , and I suffer from that defect daily.
I say to people who comment upon my lateness and lack of rapid completion, . . "It takes the time that it takes. . . There's always tomorrow ! "
Which upsets the boss a lot, but there is never any question that things are done 100% correctly.
So that's my generous interpretation of Pershing's lateness. . . . . Today.
