Ballard Power Systems (BLDP) Inks Mega-deal

After the closing bell on Friday, Ballard Power Systems Inc. (BLDP) said that it signed a new long-term license and supply agreement with an existing partner in China, Guangdong Synergy Hydrogen Power Technology Co., Ltd., to provide fuel cell Power Products and Technology Solutions in support of the planned deployment of approximately 300 fuel cell-powered buses in the cities of Foshan and Yunfu, China.
According to BLDP, the deal has an estimated initial value of $17 million through 2016, with the opportunity for significant recurring royalties starting in 2017.
BLDP provides clean energy products that reduce customer costs and risks, and helps customers solve difficult technical and business challenges in their fuel cell programs.

OncoSec Medical Inc. (ONCS) announced results from a Phase II trial demonstrating that its investigational therapy, ImmunoPulse(TM) IL-12, promotes tumor-specific, systemic anti-tumor immune responses in patients with Merkel cell carcinoma, a rare, aggressive cancer with a disease-associated mortality estimated to be three times that of malignant melanoma and affects approximately 1,600 people per year in the US.
According to the Principal Investigator of the trial, the findings support the hypothesis that intratumoral IL-12 DNA with electroporation promotes tumor immunogenicity and the results confirm the potential of this approach to make a clinically meaningful impact on patient outcomes for this virus-associated cancer.
ONCS said that the Phase II trial results are consistent with what the company has previously observed in metastatic melanoma and underscore the broad-reaching potential of ImmunoPulse IL-12 in driving immunogenicity.
