Now, that's a movie I want to see.
When growing up, there were a few in the family, our real family, who did not have jobs but they were rich. Big homes, cars, hosted parties, you name it.
I was a kid, learning, asking questions, observing, then at 12 had it figured out...
In asking Mom, others...."Joey, shut up."
The older I got, the more I figured it out.
A cousin who was very wealthy, sold fire insurance. I was 16. I asked him for a business card, the reply, "Joey, I don't have cards. I call on customers, ask them if they want a fire, they say no, I say you need a policy to prevent such, I make a sale."
This was in Boston. Another cousin in Providence, RI sold life insurance, he did not have cards either? Then there was cousin Lorenzo, my favorite, who owned a pharmacy in Wellesley, MA. I asked him who he bought his fire insurance from. "I have a policy within the family, we help each other, cause we are family. See you and folks at my Sunday party Joey, in the mean time, STFU."
I was approached by cousin Guido when turning 18 to go to work for the "family", selling fire insurance of all things...LOL! Guido said, "Joey, you 6'5" 200 Lb handsome guy could do very well in this job. We'd give you a territory and you'd not have any competition. Every customer you call you'd make a sale, then you bring the money to me, I give you your commission, it's that simple."
I was about to enter college in CA for an electrical engineering major. What do I do I'm thinking? So, I ask the folks, then my Grandpa Damiano, they said "go to college Joey", so I did and got my BSEE.
After graduation, a big company hired me in sales, wanting me to work in the Providence office, calling on all the Italian customers....go figure!
After a 38 year carrier, 8+ years in retirement now, while awaiting Baltia to make it big time, I make sure my fire insurance is paid up with Jake at State Farm.
The FAA are our friends, doing their job thoroughly as they must, and my cousin Guido the II is keeping an eye on them for us.
We will get there, because we are the BaltIa family.
