U.S. stocks start lower; Dow off triple digits
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks declined sharply Monday as political uncertainty in Europe cast doubt on the region's ability to deal with its debt crisis and after cereal-maker Kellogg Co. K -5.06% cut its 2012 forecast. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA -1.09% fell 122.49 points, or 0.9%, to 12,906.77. The S&P 500 SPX -1.24% declined 14.78 points, or 1.1%, to 1,363.75. The Nasdaq Composite COMP -1.74% tumbled 34.12 points, or 1.1%, to 2,966.33.
