sinter fines (small stuff like the .5-1mm sinters separated by the trommel from CWRN's waste byproduct) require additional substances to help them burn efficiently in the furnaces -
small stuff doesnt allow enough oxygen (the fuel for fires) without additional substances added to the ore-and thus usually in the past sold for ca 85% the price of regular larger fines
but as per this article that is true of larger fines also-brownie points to whomever discovers what the cutoff size is between regular fines and lump material-I've seen very little info on this
CWRN had ca 200k tons of 0-1mm byproduct June 2012 separated by the trommel later (magnetic separator for trommel received July 3 2012) into c 55.5% sub .5mm fert and 58% .5-1 mm sinter fines -waste byproduct of their regular fines- thats why the % is below the main 62% benchmark-
there are 58% and lower benchmarks also and since these waste byproducts have already been through the regular mag sep and the trommel mag sep it would take some time to elevate them to 62% to increase price and lower shipping costs
how much regular ore is left unshipped remains a mystery but I would think there must be some to produce that much byproduct-see my c july 2013 calculations based on original ratios which obviously changed
