MADRID (MarketWatch) — U.S. stock-market futures traded sharply lower on Monday, as European stocks tumbled on political worries and Asia fell on data that showed a continued contraction in manufacturing for China.
Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJM2 -0.92% fell 126 points, or 1%, to 12,863.
S&P 500 Index futures SPM2 -1.05% dropped 14 points, or 1%, to 1,360.90, while Nasdaq 100 futures NDM2 -0.95% fell 25.25 points, or 0.9% to 2,649.
The Stoxx Europe 600 index XX:SXXP -2.02% tumbled nearly 2% to 252.85, with peripheral markets particularly hard hit and yields for a range of 10-year government bonds, outside of Germany’s, under pressure.
