NanoTech’s UltraFlix Updates Further Enhance 4K Quality and User Experience
UltraFlix boasts HDR, Adaptive Streaming, New CDN and Movie Purchases
SAN JOSE, CA - July 30, 2015 - NanoTech Entertainment (OTCPINK: NTEK), a
pioneer in bringing the 4K Ultra HD experience to consumers, will be releasing a major
feature update to its rapidly growing and popular 4K video streaming channel, UltraFlix.
These new cutting-edge application feature enhancements will enable higher quality
video streaming with smooth playback.
These enhancements include:
• HDR. High Dynamic Range images are just as important as, if not more than,
resolution. HDR brings images to life with a much wider color gamut and brightness.
Color, hues and shades are dramatically richer. Brightness is up to 40 times richer.
Contrast is enhanced up to 500 times, bringing a finer sense of dimension with more
natural depth and shading. Viewers not only feel the difference, but significantly
notice the fine details.
• MPEG-DASH. Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH), also known as
MPEG-DASH, is an adaptive bitrate streaming technique that enables high quality
streaming of media content over the Internet. MPEG-DASH works by breaking the
content into a sequence of small HTTP-based file segments. Each segment contains
a short interval of playback time of content that is potentially many hours in duration,
such as a movie or a live broadcast of a sports event. The content is made available
at a variety of different bitrates, i.e., alternative segments encoded at different bitrates
covering aligned short intervals of playback time are made available. While the
content is being played back by an MPEG-DASH client, the client automatically
selects from the alternatives the next segment to download and playback based on
current network conditions. The client selects the segment with the highest bitrate
possible that can be downloaded in time for playback without causing stalls or rebuffering
events in the playback. Thus, an MPEG-DASH client can seamlessly adapt
to changing network conditions and provide high quality playback with fewer stalls or
re-buffering events.
• Content Delivery Network (CDN). NanoTech has selected Verizon Digital Media
Services, with its world-class CDN and superior quality performance, to deliver
UltraFlix 4K video. Verizon Digital Media Services prepares, delivers and displays
content so UltraFlix users can watch and enjoy the world's largest library of 4K
content on-demand. More than 5 percent of Internet traffic is delivered on Verizon
Digital Media Services' CDN, enabling clients to scale and accelerate content
securely, while meeting the digital consumptions demands of today's users.
One of the key forces driving this market is the ability to deliver the best possible viewer
experience. With enhanced video compression, adaptive streaming and intelligent
bandwidth management technologies, UltraFlix can stream visually lossless 4K video
with uninterrupted viewing at under 4Mbps. The ability to stream at these lower
bandwidths means 4K Ultra HD is available to most North American and European
internet subscribers today. UltraFlix also offers users with 100Mbps connections
streaming quality identical to the new Ultra HD Blu-ray specifications -- another
innovation first by NanoTech.
In addition to these advanced video quality playback technologies and driven by popular
demand, UltraFlix will now support Electronic Sell-Through (EST), aka, purchases. With
EST, UltraFlix users can access new releases sooner and buy and store them in the
UltraFlix Cloud for unlimited playback and enjoyment. Later this summer UltraFlix will
start offering hundreds of major studio blockbuster titles for EST and rental. Stay tuned
for updates on additional TV and STB platform roll-outs over the next several weeks.
NanoTech is anticipating official UltraFlix support and availability on more than 95
percent of all 4K TVs and STBs this year. HIS Supply and Digitimes Research are now
forecasting more than 15 million 4K TVs will be sold in 2015 and more than 40 million in
2016. UltraFlix is perfectly positioned to be a major player in this exciting 4K UltraHD
revolution.
