It really was supposed to be breakfast, but one of my handymen sliced his finger with an exacto knife, and I had to put on my Dr's hat.
Guess where I found him......not the handyman, Igor........working at the JFK office.
On a Sunday. All day, except for the two hours I dragged him out to get something to eat.
Up until this afternoon I have always claimed to be the busiest man I know. Not any more. On a Sunday, his phone never stops ringing. Imagine what it must be like the rest of the week.
We talked about a multitude of things, as we share more than a common link via Baltia. Baltia is how we met, but we have developed a quasi-friendship over these last almost 6 years.
I will say this much: no matter how you feel about him or the way he leads or how he doesn't release corporate information, the bottom line is that he is the right guy for this job at this time. Not married, no kids, way above average intelligence, and willing to spend every waking hour (and a multitude of nightime, dreaming hours) thinking and breathing Baltia. With over 50+ people working for Baltia, I only saw one employee working there today (and BTW, the office is absolutely gorgeous).
After 25 years pursuing the same goal, and he still willingly gives up his extra hours on a Sunday. You have to truly admire his determination and stamina.
Does anyone honestly believe the CEO....working on a Sunday.....actually gets compensated for his time?
LOL.....think again, for the compensation that he currently derives from all of his long hours of labor can not be summed up financially. The compensation he receives right now is the satisfaction that he gets from doing everything humanely possible to make Baltia Air Lines a reality.
I can't say too much more, as some a$$wipe from the Hub (goldmind comes to my thoughts first, but there are others.....such as LongtimeObserver, Darthpilot, Abimbola, FlaFlyersFan,etc.) will undoubtedly wander over here and try to twist my words....(ever wonder why they do that?).
I can say that Igor looks healthy, confident, and determined - just as much as ever. He also is watching his diet....sticking to high proteins....and drives a 2007 Buick.
Forget all the stupidity that the bashers on the Hub try to force down our throats every day......day in and day out.....relentlessly (again.....ever wonder why they do that?).......Igor's goal is not financial. He is not churning out shares and living high on the hog behind closed doors. He is, however, spearheading the creation of America's Newest Airline, and doing so under very rigid financial restraints......and doing it the best way he knows how without saddling the company with toxic financing.
Igor lives and breathes Baltia Air Lines. It is a lifelong commitment, and one that he is determined to see succeed.
And BTW, the vision doesn't stop there. Today I had the opportunity to "see" (in my mind) what Baltia Air Lines should look like 5 years down the road.
Good luck to all.
Godspeed.
And the road ahead certainly isn't just a walk in the park, but I for one feel confident that we have the right people in place to get us where we need to go.........................
