Arcelik Joins the AllSeen Alliance as Premier Member

SAN FRANCISCO, CA and BERLIN, GERMANY--(Marketwired - Sep 7, 2015) -   The AllSeen Alliance , a cross-industry collaboration to advance the Internet of Everything through an open source software project, today announced that Arçelik has joined as a premier member. Arçelik Group has 26,000 employees worldwide and 14 production facilities throughout the world located in Turkey, Romania, Russia, China and South Africa. The company has also recently broken ground on its Thailand Refrigerator plant. The Arçelik Group provides products and services in 130 countries with sales and marketing offices located in 27 countries and under 10 different brands. Two of the most well known consumer electronics and home appliance brands, Grundig and Beko, will be at the forefront of the work Arçelik does within the AllSeen Alliance.

More about Beko and Grundig:

Beko is the global home appliance brand of Arçelik Group. It offers product lines including major appliances, air conditioners and small appliances. As the second largest brand in Europe in the white goods sector, Beko gets inspired by people's ever-changing needs and lifestyles and strives to meet this subsequent demand with the best and most beneficial solutions. Beko develops various smart solutions to cater to the needs of different people, different cultures, and different ways of life in more than 100 countries.

Grundig is one of the world's leading suppliers of entertainment electronics and household appliances. Its product portfolio ranges from audio devices and 65 inch curved TVs to hair styling devices, vacuum cleaners and small home appliances up to the range of white goods including ovens, dishwashers and washing machines. Grundig products are sold in 65 countries as part of Arçelik Group's global distribution network. With the inclusion of white goods in the overall product range, Grundig brand has become one of the only European manufacturers to offer products in all categories of household electronics.

Arçelik joins 12 premier members Canon, Electrolux, Haier, LG, Microsoft, Panasonic, Philips, Qeo (a Technicolor company), Qualcomm Connected Experiences, Inc., Sharp, Silicon Image (a Lattice Semiconductor company) and Sony and more than 170 community and sponsored members in the Alliance.

By joining the AllSeen Alliance, Arçelik will help advance the AllJoyn open source project as the common software framework used by devices, services and apps within the Internet of Everything ecosystem. Arçelik's diversified group of portfolio brands will make it an ideal member within the AllSeen Alliance as company leaders work on the interoperability challenges that often impede movement in cross platform standards.

"Arçelik's strong background in home appliance innovation will be a significant point of contribution to the Internet of Everything. Addressing what consumers expect and want from their connected consumer devices, we have been working on connected appliances and we are presenting them at IFA. However, interoperability is one of the major issues for these devices, and we are assured that becoming a premier member of AllSeen Alliance Ecosystem working on open software platform with hardware and software innovators will be an important accelerator for Arçelik connected devices business," said Mr. Cem Kural, Arçelik R&D Director. "We look forward to working with the other members of the AllSeen Alliance to advance connectivity based on AllJoyn and realize the vision of a truly connected world."

"Today with the addition of Arçelik, the AllSeen Alliance gains a tremendously successful and globally influential consumer electronics and appliance company," said Philip DesAutels, PhD, senior director, IoT for the AllSeen Alliance. "One of the more exciting aspects of IoT is the growth and excitement we see on a global scale. Arçelik's endorsement and support will expand the reach of the AllJoyn-enabled IoT ecosystem, bringing real value and impact to consumers worldwide."

The AllSeen Alliance will be at IFA in Berlin Sept. 4-9, 2015 in Hall 11.1 - IFA TecWatch 2015; Booth Number 34. For a list of participating members visit: https://allseenalliance.org/event/ifa-berlin .
