I am always moved to wonder, when I hear comments like that, from folks who are supposedly professionals in the business, whether they are truly ignorant of the manipulations which go on, or are they just playing dumb for plausible deniability.

I also wonder about the fund managers who get sucked into the traps these MM's set for them.  I note that the CME has lowered the margin requirements for silver, after having serially raised them to margin-call longs out of their positions.  Now they drop the margin requirements.  Wanna bet these same fund managers walk right back into the same trap again.  Then the Margin Requirements get raised, and again loss city.

Having spent years reading how there was no such thing as a naked short, I now use it as a litmus test to see just who I am dealing with.
