Goodbuddy, nflx isn't going down as you say, rathe

Look, nflx has been having difficulty earning any REAL profits for a long time. They continue to grow revenue (not profits) by adding subs but that kind of sub growth rate is not sustainable and they know it.
Meanwhile, here comes 4K and along with it several viable streaming alternatives to nflx. Ooops! Didn't see that one coming so fast did we Mr. Hastings? Of course not, only a very few did, most notably David Foley. Listen to DF's interviews from a couple years back. He knew 4K was coming on fast because he had his finger on the pulse of the tv manufactures who were busy retooling their facilities to mass produce 4K panels/tv's. DF also knew that the content and delivery side of the equation was nowhere near ready. Essentially, DF recognized the clear imbalance between hardware and software and set out to bridge that gap.
I can tell you this, people were still poo pooing 4K as recently as the beginning of this year. They called it a gimmick that will pass just like 3d tv and those horrible glasses you had to wear. Those people were wrong as were so many who may have believed it was coming but not anytime soon. nflx certainly didn't expect it. David Foley was right! Why? Simple because he was the genius who was going to make it happen. The birth of the NP-H1, NP-C 4K streaming devices and the home version, the NP1 became a reality. The gap was finally bridged with development of NTEK's crown jewel, UltraFlix!
As the market became ripe for streaming 4K the perfect storm for NTEK continued to brew as they prepared to compete for viewers using a brand new technology. The market was screaming for something new and they were about to get it in a big way.
- TV manufacturers were battling each other for 'the next best thing', thus the advent of 4K ahead of content offerings. Price war begins
- Content providers eager to grow profits while looking for alternative delivery methods / venues as dvd piracy runs rampant
- Retailers like Best Buy looking for a exciting new product to invigorate anemic sales. In comes 4K video with beautiful images on bigger sets
- Consumers can't believe what they're seeing both in image quality and pricing of sets that are 55" inches and above.
There you have it, the perfect storm for NTEK / UltraFlix! Lossless 4K/UHD, securely streaming at sub 4mbps, game over, UltraFlix wins!
Anyway, nflx isn't going anywhere, at least not anytime soon. The original content they've been producing is extremely popular and frankly is damn good. If they continue to enjoy the popularity of their own made for nflx content, they may still be okay but probably will have to make some serious cuts. The streaming of studio produced films was killing them anyway and adding 4K only deepened the wounds. So, while snail mailing dvd's or streaming at 17-25mbps may not be so great, that's where they are now.
I expect deeper losses for nflx in the quarters to come and find it even harder than ever to believe they'll meet the 2017 profitability goal. The piracy problems that were just announced this weekend, the loss of the Epix contract (MGM, Lion's Gate and Paramount) may have just been the first, we'll see. Anymore losses like that and nflx may be forced to focus all of their efforts on their own content development in order to survive.
