08:07 AM EDT, 08/24/2015 (MT Newswires) -- U.S. stock futures followed world markets sharply lower on Monday after the Shanghai Composite shed 8.5%, erasing all of its gains for the year. All of the major indices worldwide were down 3% or more.
At home, there were no major uplifting corporate news events or pivotal economic data on tap to help take some of the brunt off.
At 8:30 a.m. E.T. the Chicago Fed National Activity Index is expected to be at 0.20 for July, up from 0.08 in June. The consensus range is between 0.15 and 1.20, according to data compiled by Econoday.
The week will bring data on new home sales on Tuesday, durable goods orders data on Wednesday and quarterly gross domestic product figures on Thursday
