"False. They are in 4K, if they were not then why is Vizio and Samsung saying they are and running Ultraflux demo loops?"
The video on the UF demo loops was not scanned by 4K Studios or UF.
The video on the demo reels in stores that has a small, brief portion from UF is from IMAX 70mm film stock and The Director (the scanners that 4K Studios/UF has) cannot handle 70mm film stock.
Ergo, that video clip in the demo loop did not come from scanners at 4K Studios or UF, it was supplied by the content owner as scanned 4K (or greater) digital files. National Geographic, Discovery, and other IMAX content owners use contract labs that can scan 70mm IMAX filmstock to 4K and/or 8K digital files.
Let's be very clear: NTEK has no capacity to scan 70mm IMAX filmstock nor can it with their current (ancient) machines - The Director.
That video footage was supplied to UF/NTEK as digital files, not as IMAX 70mm filmstock, by the content owner. That's why the clip(s) in the UF segment on the demo loop is 4K - because it was NOT scanned by 4K Studios/UF.
It could not have been. it is impossible for The Director to handle 70mm filmstock.
And that is also why Interstellar does not display the 4K ribbon/logo on the UF site. That film is likely 2K and WAS scanned by 4K Studios/UF - in 2K and/or was not certified as 4K.
