Winston is saying by Q2 2018 not EOY but no matter, you're both low in my opinion. I think Winston is off for a variety of reasons some of which I've already eluded to in my previous post. Others include ppv live concerts, live 4K sporting events, cloud based 4k gaming.
Same day release as theaters of A list movies to UltraFlix on demand. When that happens my friends it'll be an industry changing KaBoom! / KaChing! event. UltraFlix is ready to fill that consumer desire.
Why you ask?
4K televisions are now theater quality at a fraction of what large screen HD televisions were back in the day. While theater's have remodeled and are much nicer than ever before, the tickets and concessions are stupid expensive. And now a days there is a concern about just going to the movies. Yea, it may not be a big risk but some people are stupid and have chosen to target theaters.
Large screen 4K set owners can have a similar experience as going to the cinema at a fraction of the ticket and concession cost and virtually no personal safety concerns. It won't cost a family of 4, $50 for tickets, another $30+ for drinks and a snack and they won't have to get in their car and schlep across town then wait in line just to sit behind someone who has a big head, talks during the movie or stinks of Patchouli or cigarettes. F that shit!
Instead, a family can enjoy the movie they want instantly comfort of their own home, no waiting for it to be released to dvd and then mailed to your house. The desire to see it may be gone when it finally arrives so they may have to wait for that desire to come back.
They can get tickets(the movie) for $9.99 for all 4 people instead of $50, they can pause it or play it again during their 48 hour rental period. When they're done, no mailing dvd's back to anyone, no driving them back to a box and no hardware to replace. Theaters will slowly go the way of the drive-in. They'll still be there but will be more nostalgic than mainstream.
Those are a couple more reasons why 12 - 15 million, not to mention 5, will be beaten by EOY 2018.
