"I do trust JB and RH explicitly, I wouldn't have

I can't tell if you're being funny by using the word, "explicitly," --saying that you only outwardly state that you trust them rather than using the word, "unconditionally."
You've handed Mr. Heddle a check literally?...or are you speaking figuratively in that you purchased shares? You also purchased shares with Mr. Bordynuik as CEO.
So you trust both of them. Do you think the fraud charges are real? Do you feel Mr. Bordynuik was being honest when he said he had an offer in hand from Somerset Refinery for WTI-$3...two months after Somerset shut down? Do you feel Mr. Heddle was honest and justified in hiding the plant breakage from investors for six months, letting investors instead erroneously believe that processor #2 and #3 were finally in full production?
I'm trying to determine whether you trust Mr. Bordynuik and Mr. Heddle because you believe they've been completely honest...or because you believe their dishonesty is in the past. How did they earn your trust?
