BT Sport is preparing to broadcast a number of games from the UEFA Champions League in 4K
Until now – 4K content has been in extremely short supply.
Aside from a few seasons on Netflix and a handful of test broadcasts by Sky and BBC there has been little to watch on your shiny new 4K television set.
But BT Sport is about to change all that.
The company confirmed this morning that it has acquired the rights to all Champions League matches and will be broadcasting a number of games in 4K.
BT's 4K coverage will include select games from the UEFA Champions League, Barclays Premier League, FA Cup and Aviva Premiership Rugby.
Until now, few broadcasters have embraced 4K coverage

Gary Lineker, Jake Humphrey and Rio Ferdinand will front the live UEFA Champions League coverage on BT Sport
The Community Shield will be the first game to air in ultra-crisp 4K, which has an eye-watering resolution of 3840 by 2160 pixels.
That's only a few hundred pixels less than the quality projected in a cinema.
In comparison, a standard high definition television – or 1080p – has a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels.
To bring its ultra high definition coverage to football fans this summer, BT is launching a new dedicated HD channel called BT Sport Ultra HD.
There will also be a new Ultra HD set top box – but broadcaster BT has yet to confirm the price of the hardware.

BT will be showing all 351 matches from the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League next season after outbidding rivals Sky and ITV.
The firm will make some matches available for everyone to watch, whether a subscriber or not, via a new free-to-air channel on digital TV.
Called BT Sport Showcase, this channel will show a minimum of 12 UEFA Champions League matches and 14 UEFA Europa League matches and these will be available to anyone to watch for free. Each participating British team will be shown at least once.
Gary Lineker, Jake Humphrey and Rio Ferdinand will front the live UEFA Champions League coverage alongside legends Paul Scholes, Michael Owen, Steve McManaman and Owen Hargreaves. Steven Gerrard, Harry Redknapp, Glenn Hoddle and Howard Webb are also joining the team.
