Hannover House Adds to Documentary Slate with Original Productions on UFOs and Dinosaurs
Apr 18, 2012 09:00:22 (ET)
Los Angeles, CA, Apr 18, 2012 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) -- Hannover House, Inc., the newly rebranded entertainment distributor formerly known as Target Development Group, Inc. (pinksheets:HHSE), will continue to build its library of wholly-owned original productions with two more made-for-video documentary specials this year. The evergreen phenomenon of Unidentified Flying Objects will be analytically studied and presented in "UFOs: The Definitive Truth," which will feature the best evidence, analysis and expert theories. "Dinosaurs Alive!" will be targeted for a pre-teen audience, and will present both an educational and entertaining study of these prehistoric giants.
Both programs will be produced and financed by Hannover House, primarily utilizing the company's production equipment and facilities, along with independent, producer-directors for each show. Unlike most titles in the Hannover House library, these programs will be wholly-owned assets, with worldwide rights in perpetuity and limited or no third party participations, thus maximizing the revenue potential for the company.
"We have identified both projects as highly-commercial video concepts," said Eric Parkinson, C.E.O. of Hannover House. "These programs will be fast, easy and inexpensive to produce, and can be ready for release into the retail market before the end of this year. Both titles are ideally suited for placement with Hannover's key sell-thru video accounts," he concluded.
In the late 1980's, before 'Jurassic Park', Parkinson released several Dinosaur themed video programs through Twin Tower Enterprises, Inc., including "Dinosaurs", "More Dinosaurs" and "Prehistoric World." The three titles sold over 500,000 copies and were among the top selling, independently released home video titles of the 1980's. The release of Spielberg's hugely successful "Jurassic Park" films in the 1990's raised the bar of consumer expectations for how Dinosaur videos should look, thus overshadowing the original Twin Tower titles. Parkinson believes that the technical revolution of computer visual effects and animation in recent years will make "Dinosaurs Alive" not only financial viable, but visually competitive as well.
As for UFOs, Parkinson said that the recent explosion of camcorders and mobile-phone video recording devices has dramatically increased the quantity and quality of highly intriguing footage. While most UFO sightings can readily be attributed to ordinary phenomena, there are many cases which have baffled scientists, experts and the most jaded of cynics. "UFOs: The Definitive Truth" will attempt to balance on an editorially neutral position, while presenting evidence and analysis both for, and against, extraterrestrial explanations for these unidentified sightings.
Hannover House, Inc. is a full-service media company operating in all areas of domestic entertainment distribution, including theatrical, home video, video-on-demand and television. The company reports that the results for the first quarter of 2012 activities were profitable, continuing the company's positive trajectory as the ninth, consecutive profitable quarter (commencing with the company's acquisition by Target Development Group, Inc., in December, 2009, thus bringing Hannover House to the publicly traded market).
