Need some tech-guru advice...
I haven't yet purchased a 4K TV.
First, I have to upgrade my 5.1 tuner-amp 'cause I need more HDMI inputs and...I need HDMIs that can "pass-through" the 4K frequencies, apparently. And... I want to be certain the new tuner-amp will be compatible with all the new-fangled 4K standards and tech do-dads.
Does the new tuner-amp have to be compatible with the new HEVC coding? If so, whats the latest revision? And, must the T-A specs state that capability?
Also, should it be compatible with the latest HDCP Protection hardware? I think the latest version of that is 2.2 correct? Should the T-A specs state that capability?
If any future changes/upgrades are approved to either of those standards, will they obsolete my new tuner-amp? I would think since the HDCP is hardware-based, that may be out of the question (unless it's more like a firmware upgrade).
Another thing: What about upcoming changes (if any) to the HDMI specifications? Will they be backwards-compatible and allow the older version to attempt to pass the higher frequencies?
