celebrates 50th year in Indianapolis
Three hundred volunteers help organize the event at Monument Circle. The women of the church make 18,000 shortcakes for the event. Six tons of strawberries and 900 gallons of ice cream are also ordered to create the signature dish, “The Works.” Eager crowds were lining up as early as 8:30 a.m. for carry-out orders.
The event typically raises more than $50,000 each year. About 95 percent of the proceeds from the festival go to local, national and international charities.
