Merger Deals 'Never Stopped': Networking and Music

NEW YORK, June 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In the liner notes of several early Grateful Dead albums, the band posed the eternal questions: "Who are you? Where are you?"
Participants at Wall Street Dead aHead Networking Events™ are learning the answers to these questions while creating new, valuable relationships based on that very mantra. Networking in an environment which allows like-minded business people to recognize, create and act upon new relationship opportunities, sets the stage for participants to find out exactly who the others are and where they are at this moment of their careers.
The collective theme is music, best characterized as "jam band"-influenced. Wall Streeters and other financial types mix and harmonize as they blend their love of music with networking to develop rolodexes that enhance their day jobs.
Behind this successful series of events is money manager and Grateful Dead fan Deborah Solomon. She must be on to something, because her next event—in October—is well on its way to being the fifth sold-out Wall Street Dead aHead Event!
Ms. Solomon's inspiration for creating these ticket-coveted events was her realization that she was meeting more viable connections at live music venues without even thinking about business than at traditional conferences. Ms. Solomon explains: "The Grateful Dead has always been a huge part of who I am—and I firmly believe that in order to be successful in business networking, we must make some sort of personal connection outside the strict world of business first. Admitting I loved the Dead, as well as other jam bands, could have been a high-risk career move. Instead, this disclosure became a conversation-starter that has helped me form many of my very long-term business relationships with people I can truly count as friends."
The Fifth Wall Street Dead aHead Event is set for Tuesday, October 20, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Tir Na Nog, located at 315 West 39th Street in Manhattan. There is limited space available, and several business categories have already closed, so register now at www.wallstreetdeadahead.com to ensure your attendance. Unregistered arrivals will not be admitted to the event.
The event will feature a concert by The Deadbeats, open-bar beer and wine with specialty cocktails, appetizers and sponsor bags—and for ultimate networking, a coveted attendance roster with contact information that also lists each attendee's favorite Grateful Dead song.
For this upcoming event, the affiliated charity is the Rex Foundation. Members of the Grateful Dead, their friends and families, founded Rex to further the band's long-established tradition of generosity. Supporting programs that might otherwise be overlooked by mainstream funders, they offer unsolicited small grants, generally in the $5,000 range, to organizations doing innovative grassroots work in environment, education, arts for youth, social services, building community and other areas aligned with the Rex mission. Since 1984, the Rex Foundation has granted $8.9 million to more than 1,200 recipients.
