Hannover House Begins VODWIZ Launch – Targets 100,000 Subscribers
May 04, 2015
OTC Disclosure & News Service
New York, NY -
Hannover House, Inc. (OTC: HHSE) has opened the door to consumers to begin registration and digital streaming of movies from the new video-on-demand portal, VODWIZ. The soft launch to consumers started May 1 and will increase in visibility over the coming weeks and months as the venture adds over 2,500 titles to the selection list. VODWIZ already has over 500 titles in the process of being added to the site, representing films from more than ten supplier studios, including Hannover House, CMD, Green Apple and Fever Dreams. Two supplier studios of primarily high-visibility theatrical releases will be announced separately, the company reports.
VODWIZ programming will be available to consumers through two separate access models, according to Hannover House. Films and television programs may be accessed on a per-transaction basis, similar to the Amazon.com and I-Tunes model. However, a monthly subscription service, similar to Netflix and Hulu, will be launched late this summer, once the total offerings available for streaming on the VODWIZ site surpass 1,000 titles. Hannover House believes that about half of the total titles on the site will ultimately be available through the subscription service model.
The company hopes to have 2,500 titles uploaded and available through VODWIZ by the end of this year, at which time they hope to have 100,000 registered users or subscribers. As a point comparison, Netflix has approximately 50-million subscribers, each paying $8 per month as a subscription fee. Accordingly, Hannover House feels that the VODWIZ forecasts represent a realistic and obtainable user goal.
Most of the titles already on VODWIZ, or in the process of being added to the site, are not currently available through the mainstream video-on-demand portals, said Eric Parkinson, C.E.O. of Hannover House. Higher end theatrical releases are widely available, but independent films are challenging to find. VODWIZ hopes to establish the brand as a destination site for movie lovers who want to see more than just a handful of box office hits. By offering thousands of independent films, most of which are not available through other sites, VODWIZ believes it can attract and maintain a loyal subscriber base.
The soft-launch of the site will see a progressive increase in ads and visibility over the coming weeks as VODWIZ adds new titles. By mid-summer, the company hopes to have many of the higher-end, theatrical titles supplementing the mix, to provide consumers with the broadest possible entertainment selections. VODWIZ will also be available as an over-the-top IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) application, through a technology and servicing venture with Nanotech Entertainment, Inc. The company elected to activate the newly added titles to the site each week - at the same time it is building a subscriber base - as a strategy to remind existing users to revisit the site to check out the new additions. The alternative strategy of immediately posting 500 titles removed the opportunity to solicit repeat visits from newly registered subscribers. Additionally, the company felt that the addition of too many new titles each week, or all at once, could cannibalize attention and diminish results on a per-title basis.
In the past three years, Video-On-Demand and other forms of digital streaming have emerged as a prominent delivery medium for U.S. consumers, and often the preferred viewing format for younger consumers. Consumption of entertainment through packaged goods and traditional cable and broadcast media has declined while streaming technologies have emerged. Hannover House feels that VODWIZ offers the company a distinct, competitive advantage in the changing entertainment marketplace, by providing a forum for the ongoing distribution of the company's titles, while also offering the service on a revenue-split basis with outside studios and property rights owners. The company remains committed to its core activities with the distribution of packaged home video goods (DVD and Bluray products), and will be releasing over ninety titles during 2015 for the mainstream video retail market.
