Calmare NJ finally rids Colorado teen of CRPS pain and symptoms

It’s simply not right for someone whose life is just beginning to be sidelined by chronic pain, particularly the debilitating symptoms brought on by a severe case of complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS or RSD).
Colorado high school student Krista arrived here at Calmare Therapy New Jersey two weeks ago in search of help for her treatment-resistant pain and growing list of CRPS symptoms after a running injury in 2013.
Like many fighting CRPS, she was forced to deal with an ever-growing list of symptoms
of the condition that included chronic pain, allodynia, swelling, sweats, pins and needles.
Over a two-year period, she underwent several treatment efforts, some particularly painful and invasive:
Nerve blocks
Lidocaine injections
Physical therapy
The prescription painkiller Neurontin (gabapentin)
Krista’s pain level was manageable, about a 3/4 every day, until she walked “too much.” Then the intense pain set in. But the increasing number of physical symptoms finally brought her to Calmare New Jersey after she and her family read about other RSD patient stories online and their positive outcomes.

“When I reviewed Krista’s medical history prior to her making the trip to NJ, her chart looked like many of the other patients we have treated successfully, says Dr. Michael Cooney, clinical director. “I had a strong feeling the scrambler could help her.”

Calmare, an FDA-cleared, pain-free, drug-free treatment that has no side effects, is performed through very low doses of electricity transmitted through 16 different algorithms (electrodes) to disrupt the chronic pain loop message from the brain.
