During the past 6 years as CEO of Nanologix, Mr. Barnhizer has worked to further the interests of NanoLogix and to bring its rapid detection technologies to the attention of multiple organizations for their use in combatting infection. Working as part of a small team of like-minded individuals dedicated to this effort, against heavy odds in a field dominated by large well-established corporations, NanoLogix has begun to penetrate the diagnostics market and capture market share. Prior to becoming CEO, Mr. Barnhizer had a successful 25+ year career in the upstream oil and gas industry, working for BP, Chevron, Unocal, Occidental and many others as both consultant and employee, with his last position based in Europe as Manager for European Operations for an independent Canadian oil and gas company.
In his career in the oil and gas industry his innovation and leadership led to the adoption of breakthrough technology applications that are now widely used in the industry. These applications have provided dramatically improved economics and performance in upstream operations with savings to date from 1989 estimated at billions of dollars. Mr. Barnhizer worked as Coastal Sales and Engineering manager for a California oilfield service company and was Vice President for Marketing and Sales for Anacapa Salt & Chemical Inc. Moving from sales and localized engineering into upstream exploration and drilling operations, Mr. Barnhizer provided engineering, project, and operations management services to companies in the U.S., Europe, Africa and Asia, living for extended periods on three continents outside North America. Mr. Barnhizer is a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where during his two tours of duty he served as a battlefield combat medic, followed by temporary duty with a USARV Military Advisory Team, providing medical aid and services to Vietnamese civilians as the equivalent of a doctor in four villages and hamlets. Afterwards he managed medical inventory and field resupply for a US Infantry Battalion engaged in active combat, in addition to continued service on Medical Civil Action Programs (MEDCAP) in the Danang area assisting Battalion Surgeons and others in treatment of children in local orphanages. Following the military, Mr. Barnhizer worked in the steel and demolitions industries and then attended Youngstown State University and the University of Colorado, followed by his career in the oil and gas industry.
Mr. Barnhizer is the inventor of the "flatpack" packaging used for the commercial sales of both Nanologix’s BNP and their various petri products. The packaging provides for dramatically extended shelf life and increased efficacy in use for nutrient media used for bacteria detection. He is also the originator of the concept of the use for aptamers in conjunction with Nanologix’s existing patent-pending BNF technology. This concept has led to the filing of a separate patent covering the potential.

Daniel Barnhizer is an associate professor of law at Michigan State University College of Law, where he teaches and writes in the areas of business, contract, securities, and commercial law. In addition to his academic work, Professor Barnhizer also maintains an active consulting practice in corporate and securities law. Prior to joining the MSU College of Law faculty in 2001, Professor Barnhizer worked as a litigator in Washington, D.C. with the law firms of Hogan & Hartson and Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, where his primary practice areas focused on corporate governance, securities law, and white collar criminal law. Professor Barnhizer graduated with honors from Harvard Law School in 1995 where he was Managing Editor of the Harvard Environmental Law Review.

Dr. Barnhizer has been a veterinarian in clinical practice since graduating from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. Her addition to the SAB comes at a time of increased interest in NanoLogix detection and diagnostic technologies from international and domestic corporations, agencies and organizations with a focus on livestock and animal husbandry.
Sebastian Faro, M.D.
Sebastian Faro, M.D, Ph.D. Dr. Faro brings over fifty years of medical experience and an extensive body of knowledge concerning obstetrics, gynecology, and infectious diseases to the NanoLogix Science Advisory Board. Dr. Faro is currently affiliated with The Woman's Hospital of Houston. Dr. Faro previously served as Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at LBJ Hospital in Houston, Texas and was Vice-Chair of the Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences Department at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Dr. Faro received his PhD in botany at the University of Iowa and completed his postdoctoral fellowship training at the New York Botanical Garden. He then completed medical school and residency training at Creighton University. He served as director of infectious disease at both Louisiana State University and the Baylor College of Medicine, and as Department Chair for the University of Kansas and Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center.
Dr. Faro is not only a member of a number of professional societies, but also currently serves as Immediate Past President of the Infectious Disease Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has published at least 149 articles in peer-reviewed medical publications and served as Editor-in-Chief of Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics and Gynecology for 13 years. He is also an Editor of the current editions of the following textbooks: Infectious Diseases in Women; Benign Diseases of the Vulva and Vagina; and Infections in Pregnancy.
Upon rejoining the NanoLogix Scientific Advisory Board, Dr. Faro said:

Giles Manley, M.D.
Dr. Manley brings to the Science Advisory Board more than 20 years experience in the medical profession. As a Board Certified OB/GYN with well over 2,000 deliveries, he is extremely knowledgeable in all areas of obstetrics. His specialty training was at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC), which included a four-month rotation of high risk obstetrics at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Following successful completion of his residency, he served as a faculty instructor at GBMC, as well as maintaining a private practice. In 1996, he left this practice to become the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Baltimore for the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (the physician group of Kaiser Permanente). In addition to serving as OB/GYN Chief, in 2002, he also took on the role of Area Medical Director.
In addition to his extensive obstetrical experience, Dr. Manley also had a particularized interest in gynecologic surgery. His specialty was in the area of minimally invasive procedures. He was the first person at GBMC to perform a laparoscopic supra cervical hysterectomy, as was he the first to perform incontinence surgery utilizing a tension free vaginal tape. Both procedures allowed the patient to go home the day of surgery with only a one to two week recovery. He has lectured to physicians nationwide about these innovative techniques.
Throughout his medical career, Dr. Manley has served on a number of committees, including; the Obstetrical Advisory Committee at GBMC, the Gynecology Advisory Committee at GBMC, the Obstetrical Quality Review Committee at Kaiser, to mention a few. He is a fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Manley is a member of the Maryland Bar. He was elected Member of the Year in Madison Who's Who Registry of Executives and Professionals for 2007-2008 edition, and was also selected to its Round Table, honoring Dr. Manley as one of the top 100 members worldwide.

Dr. Wood’s practice focuses on preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications, patent searching, patentability and infringement/freedom-to-operate opinions, due diligence analyses and U.S. and foreign patent portfolio strategy and management. Dr. Wood has been a practicing attorney for more than nine years, and worked for large law firms in Pennsylvania and Ohio before opening Acker Wood IP Law.
Dr. Wood has an M.S. in hematology and a Ph.D. in neurophysiology. Prior to becoming a patent attorney, Dr. Wood was a research scientist, receiving two postdoctoral scholarships to conduct research in the areas of neurochemistry and psychoimmunology, respectively. In addition, she served as an adjunct professor at the following institutions in the following disciplines: biology, nutritional science and advanced pathophysiology at New York University, and biology and advanced pathophysiology at Duquesne University.
