Shares of Omnicare Inc. (OCR) surged to reach a record high in after-hours trading Wednesday, following a report by Bloomberg indicating that drugstore operator CVS Health Corp. (CVS) is in advanced takeover talks with the company.
OCR recently said that it expects full-year 2015 earnings (excluding special items) in the range of $4.08 to $4.16 per share, with revenue in the range of $6.5 billion to $6.7 billion

Billionaire Larry Robbins' Glenview Capital Management, LLC disclosed in a regulatory filing ( 13F-HR ) with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that it boosted to 9,691,737 the number of shares of Monsanto Company (MON) in its investment portfolio during the first quarter 2015 from the 9,618,448 shares held at the end of the previous quarter.
MON said on Wednesday that it continues to pursue a deal to combine the company with Syngenta AG (SYT) and remains confident in its ability to address regulatory concerns.
MON plans to divest all of Syngenta's seeds and genetic traits businesses as well as some overlapping chemistry assets to win regulatory approval for a takeover of the seed company.
Syngenta recently rejected a $45 billion takeover offer from MON, saying the offer fundamentally undervalued the company and underestimates the significant execution risks, including regulatory and public scrutiny at multiple levels in many countries.
MON provides agricultural products for farmers worldwide. It operates in two segments, Seeds and Genomics, and Agricultural Productivity.
