Lab Automation Market by Equipment & Software, Applications, Type of Automation, & End Users - Global Forecasts to 2020
M2 - Mon May 18, 4:35AM CDT
Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/2d4wgt/lab_automation) has announced the addition of the "Lab Automation Market by Equipment & Software, Applications, Type of Automation, & End Users - Global Forecasts to 2020" report to their offering. The global lab automation market is poised to reach $5,105.7 Million by 2020 from $3,474.2 Million in 2014, at a CAGR of 6.7% from 2015 to 2020. Major factors fueling market growth are miniaturization in the process, progressing drug discovery and clinical diagnostics, higher reproducibility and accuracy, and large workforce demand and supply gap. In addition, greater productivity and reduction in costs, better personnel safety, and requirement of small volumes of samples and reagents are further driving market growth. However, lack of planning for technology development and indefinite data interchange are restricting the growth of the lab automation market. The lab automation market is segmented on the basis of equipment and software, application, type of automation, end user, and region. On the basis of type of automation, the lab automation market is segmented into modular automation and total lab automation (TLA). The modular automation segment accounted for the largest share of the market as modular automation is affordable to almost all small-to-medium-sized labs and requires less space. Geographically, the surgical microscopes market is dominated by North America, followed by Europe. Asia-Pacific is expected to grow at the highest CAGR during the forecast period. Genentech's Investigational Immunotherapy MPDL3280A Doubled the Likelihood of Survival Compared with Chemotherapy in People with a Specific Type of Lung Cancer
Business Wire - Wed May 13, 4:00PM CDT
Genentech, a member of the Roche Group (SIX: RO, ROG; OTCQX: RHHBY), today announced interim results from a global, randomized Phase II study (POPLAR) in people with previously treated non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The study showed the investigational cancer immunotherapy MPDL3280A (anti-PDL1) doubled the likelihood of survival (overall survival [OS]; hazard ratio [HR]=0.47) in people whose cancer expressed the highest levels of PD-L1 (programmed death ligand-1) compared with docetaxel chemotherapy. An improvement in survival was also observed in people who had medium and high (HR=0.56) or any level of PD-L1 expression (HR=0.63), as characterized by a test being developed by Roche. MPDL3280A was generally well tolerated and adverse events were consistent with what has been previously reported for MPDL3280A in NSCLC. Updated results will be presented in an oral session at the 51st Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
