Shares of NeoPhotonics Corporation (NPTN) touched a new 52-week high in after-hours trading Thursday as the company delivered a third consecutive quarter of non-GAAP profitability in its financial results
For the first quarter 2015, NPTN posted revenue of $81.4 million, a 19.4% increase year over year, and non-GAAP net income of $4.2 million, or $0.13 per diluted share, compared to a non-GAAP net loss of ($9.5) million, or ($0.30) per diluted share in the same quarter the prior year
According to its business outlook for the second quarter 2015, NPTN expects revenue to be in the range of $83 million to $89 million and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share to be in the range of $0.09 to $0.18.

After the closing bell on Thursday, Sucampo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (SCMP) said that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted Fast Track Designation for cobiprostone, a locally acting chloride channel activator, for the prevention of oral mucositis, a common complication of chemotherapy and for which there are no approved drugs in the U.S.
According to SCMP, the FDA has also accepted the company's Investigational New Drug (IND) application to initiate a phase 2 clinical trial of cobiprostone for the prevention of oral mucositis in patients suffering with head and neck cancer receiving concurrent radiation and chemotherapy.
Shares of SCMP climbed more than 5% following the announcement.
