(Newswire) Zynga (ZNGA) is betting that slots, poker and other casino games will play a big role in helping to bolster the struggling company's turnaround efforts. CEO Mark Pincus said during the 1Q conference call that social casino will make up one of just 5 categories the company will focus. First-quarter bookings for ZNGA's casino franchises increased 55% on-year and 14% from 4Q. "We're continuing to double down on slots," he told WSJ. "We were late to the game in slots but we caught up fast...We licensed what we believe are the top brands that matter most to the most-passionate players." ZNGA climbs 6.1% to $2.77, putting the month's rebound at 13%. (sarah.needleman@wsj.com; @saraheneedleman)
