Call it a theory, call it an extension of logic (flawed as it may be) but if the "girt" is the issue (big if, not based on any first hand knowledge) then it stands to reason that the issue may in fact be the result of undue stress on a part of the plane not used to so much activity. I mean, how often is a chute deployed on an in service aircraft? Rarely, no doubt.
But when one is popping slides in succession with each test it stands to reason that a part like a "girt" may fatigue or become loose. If there is any merit to this theory then I would hope that all such "grits" be checked for fatigue, replaced or strengthened prior to the next test so as to ensure no repeat.
Long and strong on BLTA and very appreciative of all the efforts of Baltia personnel. Huge win last night in solving the slide issues and pulling a perfect 5 for 5!!
If we need a final test and we don't get the go-ahead from the FAA to last night's exercise let's get them "girts" locked in good and snug to all exits.
