In terms of Regulars stocks, Many people do, Penny

In terms of say Big Board Stocks, Nasdaq or Nyse, Everyone's plan differs slightly, It depends on how much risk you want to put into individual stocks and sectors.
As far as OTC stocks ad NTEK, 100% is not that big of a gain for many of these stocks! For example NTEK ran 30,000% and 3000%, so had you or anyone taken profit after 100%, you would have lost a fortune!
In general, this is also more for Investing for people with Portfolio's and a lot of money, they will have certain points when they consider taking some of their big stocks profits, could be 20%, could be 50%, cold be 100%...
The point about taking profits, Is it can change, because the company's outlook changes with he Increase In PPS.
I don't personally like hard and fast rules like 20%, 50%,100%, it depends on the stock and if you are selling any stock remember, you have to put that money somewhere, whether it is in the bank, another stock, etc..Your new place should be better, or at least just as good as the stock you sold!Otherwise you may end up taking money from a good investment, for no real reason! Also with NTEK it increases many times above 50% in a day, so if you took at 20%, you missed most of just a 1 day run, let alone the back to back day runs.
let me know if you have any other questions, thanks,
