Quick observation: This OBV exercise is showing that MRIB is currently in a rising field trend. Rising field trends signal that a stock is under accumulation, most likely by smart money. Whereas, falling field trends signal a stock is suffering from distribution. According to the principles of this technical indicator, volume precedes price movement. Therefore, barring the activity of financial conversion share obligations, and/or negative news from the company, the stock price of MRIB is more likely to rise in the near term. In his book, Joe Granville advised; \"never buy a stock with evidence of OBV distribution.\" \"Only buy stocks with evidence of OBV accumulation...\"
5/04: The pps closed Higher today. Therefore, all of todays volume is added to the cumulative OBV column as a positive. The net result is that yet another new cumulative OBV high was achieved! This confirms that MRIB continues to be classified as being in a rising field trend. What I find festinating is there has not been one down designation since I started documenting OBV Data. I have never seen that before.
Note: An UP designation is used when a previous cumulative OBV high is broken, and a DOWN designation is used when a previous cumulative OBV low is broken. UP/DOWN designations get transferred from the previous day on days there is no price change. One or more UP/DOWN designations is called a cluster. Clusters help identify OBV field trends.
There are three possible field trends based on OBV Data results: Rising, Doubtful, and Falling. It\'s purpose is to determine if accumulation/distribution is zigzagging up or down. It takes 2 up movements and 2 down movements before a field trend can be determined....
