Al Jazeera embraces Teracue IPTV for London studio
DetailsRebecca Hawkes | 21 April 2015
Qatar-based news network Al Jazeera is utilising Teracue IPTV technology to distribute its channels after opening a new studio in London's landmark skyscraper The Shard.
DMM-series DVB-to-IP gateways have been installed to ingest signals from more than 60 TV and radio channels and convert them to IP streams.
SDI feeds from Al Jazeera studios are encoded directly at the CAR using Teracue's HD encoder, the ENC-300-HDSDI, and distributed to the IPTV network.
The IPTV streams are decoded using Amino IPTV set-top boxes (STBs) with Teracue software installed to monitor and control all STBs from a central management system. The Element Manager controls individual or groups of STBs, and can interface to connect the IPTV technology to the main control system.
The German company's StreamView multi-viewers have also been installed to provide a mosaic view to screens, which can be controlled centrally. Dedicated streams can be switched to full screen and select audio routed to the speaker or muted.
