If Baltia has faulty slides, the crew's professionalism becomes pointless. Passengers need to be able to exit the plane quickly if there's an emergency. I understand your view, but it would be wrong for the FAA to give Baltia the green light if the slides do not deploy properly.
But you know what really pisses me off? Baltia already passed the evac, but because of an error by some dumbass (who shall remain nameless), they couldn't proceed. This bullshit that the FAA is shoving down Baltia's throat is exactly the same as the "sidewalk training" that the Department of Energy mandates for its funding recipients.
Anytime the government thinks it's doing a public service, it's usually doing more harm than good. The FAA is toying with Baltia because of the risks involved with certifying an airline and having said airline run into problems that could've (or should've) been detected during certification....
