Samsung ropes in NanoTech to add UltraFlix 4K application on UHV TV
by Malini Nagaraj | November 25, 2014
Samsung Electronics has inked a deal with NanoTech Entertainment. This deal enables Samsung to add UltraFlix 4K streaming application from NanoTech on its ultra-high-definition televisions. The transactional video-on-demand 4K network will be available from November 25 on Samsung UHD TVs as a featured 4K application.
The UltraFlix application provides access to more than 500 hours of pristine 4K Ultra HD pay-per-view movies, concerts, TV shows and special events, including 100 hours of free content.
UltraFlix and Samsung UHD TVs will deliver ultra-sharp 4K content with a resolution of 3840 x 2160, which is 4 times that of full HD TVs. NanoTech’s streaming 4K UHD software archives up to 50% better compression than with H.264, claimed the company in a statement.
“Samsung is the leader in TV technology, so we are excited to launch the UltraFlix streaming service on their complete family of UltraHD TVs,” said Aaron Taylor, EVP of sales and marketing with NanoTech. “Samsung continues to set new standards in innovation and immersive viewing experiences and we look forward to partnering with them to deliver our entire 4K UltraHD library.”
