Swig Media Launches SWIG4K, The First Globally Net
Post# of 96879
Swig4K is the first globally networked OTT media stick to stream HD, 3D, UHD and 4K@ 60 fps. Its quad-core processor, next generation Octo-Core Mali graphic processing and 16GB internal storage deliver twice the processing power, four times video resolution of its nearest competitor - and there is so much more.

Swig Media CEO, Ivan Gulas, announced the launch of Swig4K OTT Media Stick during NAB week in Las Vegas. SwigStick, uniquely designed in a sleek metal case, boasts an impressive list of next generation hardware components, patent pending software and content video streaming technologies. Swig Stick’s video streaming capability combined with breakthrough features including a patent pending secure DVR function, that offers content distributors unprecedented protection against piracy, yet enables users potentially unlimited storage. Other features include: near play-station quality gaming (with optional game controller), social connections (Skype, Instagram, e-mail, etc.), music, home media hub functions, and even office functions (e.g., Word and Excel) making this tiny quad-core device a replacement for a laptop.
Swig4K also champions efforts to bring the superb visual experience enabled by quadruple resolution of full-HD to households globally. Beyond Swig Stick’s capacity to support 4K H.265 decoding (which typically also requires 15.1 Mbp of bandwidth -- essentially twice that is available to the average US household), content originating and streaming from Swig’s Global Media Cloud to Swig Sticks can be enjoyed in 4K resolution at 6.5Mbps bandwidth bit rate (which is under the bandwidth ceiling of the average US and UK households). Furthermore, unlike most OTT devices which actually do not stream (though they call it that) but rather deliver the videos by progressive downloads that are most vulnerable to annoying buffering, content originating from Swig’s servers actually do stream, and do so in a Dynamic Adaptive SwigStream over HTTP (DASSH), which provides the world’s best streaming performance with up to 100% higher media quality than other solutions.
Gulas emphasized that while superior technology is essential, it must actually be invisible to the end user, whose concerns need only be limited to “outstanding user-experience, great content, all at the highest quality possible”. In contrast to Apple, whose much anticipated next generation Apple TV, will not output 4K, according to John Paczkoski of BuzzFeed, Swig Media is committed to offering the 'look and feel' and resolution which most closely reflects production or close to production quality visual experience, which is increasingly in UHD/4K.
In this context, Gulas announced a distribution agreement with NanoTech Entertainment for the placement of UltraFlix on Swig4K OTT Media Stick. “The fit between the companies could not be more synergistic”, stated Gulas. “UltraFlix is the world’s first dedicated 4K Ultra HD Network and Swig4K, the world’s first globally networked OTT media Stick with groundbreaking capabilities and features”. UltraFlix offers hundreds of hours of video-on-demand shows and features including an impressive selection of free to watch content. The UltraFlix App is already a preferred destination on 4K TV’s such as Samsung, Sony, Vizio and others..." (much more)
