"While the 4K TVs made by Sony may be some of the best on the market, they get plenty of competition from Samsung, LG and even Panasonic models. However, there is one area in which the Sony 4K models do excel: content.
While the available selection of third party 4K programming and entertainment is not exactly vast in its diversity, Sony has done a remarkable job of compensating for the lack with its own native collection of movies, shows, documentaries and other content selections in 4K ultra HD. Given that the company has enormous media clout through its production arm, Sony Studios, this isn’t surprising. The end result: the largest single library of 4K content owned by any one 4K UHD TV maker.
For starters, the company has its own proprietary 4K media player, the FMP-X10, which while expensive, comes preloaded with literally hundreds of hours of movies and shows in ultra HD resolution. Best of all, the media player isn’t even limited strictly to Sony TVs. However, in addition to this set-top box option for Sony 4K content, the company has also created its own Ultraflix 4K video library, accessible through the Ultraflix VOD streaming 4K video service which is owned by Nanotech entertainment.
It’s to this latter service from Ultraflix that Sony has now also added its own original series and the blockbuster hit movie “Interstellar” .
“Powers” is the name of the original series and it is a first of its kind, made available through Sony’s Playstation gaming and media platform. The series follows the story of two homicide detectives who investigate criminal acts committed by people with superhuman abilities. Sounds interesting enough and currently, it’s only available on either Sony’s Ultraflix library or the FMP-X10 media player mentioned above."
