By inking deals with what it called "a number of affiliate partners" covering 56 markets nationwide, CBS has bulked up its CBS All Access video streaming service to 55 percent of U.S. households.
In addition to the deals with Dispatch, Graham Media, Gray, Hearst, Lilly Broadcasting, Meredith, Morgan Murphy, Morris Network, Neuhoff Media, Nexstar, Raycom and Withers, All Access also covers 14 owned-and-operated CBS stations.
"This is another key step in the company's long-standing strategy to grow our business in a way that complements our existing ecosystem," CBS President-CEO Leslie Moonves said in a press release. "Adding CBS affiliates to the mix will give viewers the opportunity to watch more CBS programming whenever they want on whichever device they choose."
Specific terms of the agreement, naturally, were not disclosed--but the company revealed that each affiliate partner will be part of a revenue-share agreement as well as Nielsen's live-viewership ratings service.
Those markets that don't have access to the live streaming offer do have access to almost 7,000 episodes on-demand via the CBS app, the broadcaster added.
