Really - that's excellent Shipmate - I was on an LSD-35 Monticello and an LPH-10 USS Tripoli. I know you have seen them at 32nd street. Monticello is now on the bottom of Pacific near Hawaii (used for Missile testing, and the Tripoli is at San Francisco on loan to the Army as a Missile launch platform for ICBM's. She is still floating and gets towed to Hawaii Missile Range for launches. Tripoli took a huge mine hit while she was in the Persian Gulf war in 91 as well. Sad times for her then but she and all of us survived.
