Greif, Inc. Announces Delay in Filing 2014 Form 10-K
Business Wire - Wed Jan 14, 5:30PM CST
Greif, Inc. (NYSE: GEF, GEF.B) , a global leader in industrial packaging products and services, today announced that it has delayed the filing of its Annual Report on Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended October 31, 2014 beyond the January 14, 2015 extended filing date. As previously reported in its Form 8-K filings, the company engaged a new independent registered public accounting firm, Deloitte & Touche LLP, during the fourth quarter of 2014. In connection with the independent audit and financial statement preparation process, management identified certain adjustments which require immaterial revisions to the company's financial statements for prior periods. These adjustments relate primarily to income tax accounting matters and, to a lesser extent, other adjustments to operating items. The aggregate of these items totaled approximately $24.5 million, net of income tax. In addition, the company identified an adjustment related to the elimination of intercompany sales in its Paper Packaging segment which impacts the current and prior period financial statements, and results in a reduction of sales and cost of sales ranging from approximately $130-$140 million annually. The filing delay is necessary to allow the company and its independent registered public accounting firms additional time to finalize their procedures for these prior period adjustments.

United States Rigid Bulk Packaging Market 2015-2019: Key vendors are Berenfield Containers, Berry Plastics, Greif Bros, Packaging Corporation of America, Rock-Tenn Company & Sonoco Products Company
M2 - Tue Dec 16, 9:43AM CST
Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/36j4rb/rigid_bulk) has announced the addition of the "Rigid Bulk Packaging Market in the US 2015-2019" report to their offering. Rigid bulk packaging is used in the industrial packaging of perishable goods such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and F&B items. The main purpose is to protect these goods in large quantities from the point of manufacture to the point in the distribution channel, where they are finally packaged for the customers. Rigid plastics, steel, and even paperboard are the materials used in this type of packaging. The market is characterized by innovation and customization. Customization in the offerings provided by the market vendors is expected to become a major trend during the forecast period. From the type of material used, to adding certain modifications to standard containers to suit customer specifications, customization is possible in many aspects. According to the report, one of the main factors spurring market growth is increased demand for industrial packaging from the chemicals and petroleum industries. The US has a booming Chemicals industry with the availability of a large number of commercial chemicals in the form of compounds in mines Further, the report states that one of the major challenges is the stringent packaging regulations laid down by the regulatory authorities in the US. Stringent regulations are imposed by the US authorities on the packaging of non-durable goods for their protection, and also to protect the environment from these goods in cases where they are hazardous materials. The recyclability of materials used for packaging is often gauged by these authorities, and certain directives are placed that require vendors to source materials that adhere to the framework. The Rigid Bulk Packaging market in the US can be segmented into five segments by product type: - Drums - Pails - Material Handling Containers - Bulk Boxes - RIBC. Major end-users for rigid bulk packaging: - Chemicals - Pharmaceutical - Healthcare - F&B Key Vendors - Berenfield Containers - Berry Plastics - Greif Bros. - Packaging Corporation of America - Rock-Tenn Company - Sonoco Products Company For more information visit http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/36j4rb/rigid_bulk
