I forgot to mention it earlier, but it sounds like you need a Phlegm Extractor.
All you need to do is bring that shit up while it's incubating. Down around the trachea area is where it's working against you and needs to be brought up. Get a nice hot shower started, and take about fifteen to twenty minutes to bring that crap up; longer if needed. Do so until you see small traces blood, and at times you'll fee like puking as gag reflexes kick in. Once you see a little blood, you'll know that it's working. If there's a lot of blood, then it may be something more severe.
I swear that if you do it correctly, you'll start to feel better within minutes, and within a half hour you should feel NOTHING. It's a nasty process, but it works and I haven't had a cold stay with me in many years. The best part is that you have a decent window of opportunity to get rid of it as the incubation period of most colds is around two days; sometimes longer. Whenever you feel a cold coming on, take the time to get rid of it as mentioned.
It's funny, as I was looking up one member of Inergetics' advisory board and coincidentally came across a type of Chinese medicine used to extract phlegm. It wasn't one of the advisory board members that patented it, but some other individual I had never heard of.
