Pritesh Kumar is a serious Heavyweight in the Industry. Knowing Pritesh selected Jones to be his Director of Clinical Research at Phytosciences is HUGE. If these guys are able to create a proprietary formulation....WOW, just WOW.

TORONTO, ONTARIO, Apr 30, 2014 (Marketwired via COMTEX) -- Vida Cannabis Corp. ("Vida Cannabis" is pleased to announce the appointment of Pritesh Kumar as the Company's Chief Cannabinoid Research Scientist as well as Quality Assurance Manager of its wholly owned subsidiary, Vida Cannabis (Canada) Ltd. ("Vida Canada" .
Pritesh Kumar, M.S. Pharmacology, is a cannabinoid research scientist and consultant trained in ensuring Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), current Good Production Practices (GPP) and current Good Laboratory Practices (cGLP) of pharmaceutical products and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). As Cannabinoid Pharmacologist and Laboratory Manager since 2009, Pritesh has conducted medical cannabinoid research as it pertains to the cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2), pharmacological testing of FDA approved drugs as potential ligands for CB2, investigated the pharmacology of cannabidiol (CBD) for CB2 and been responsible for all aspects of managing the laboratory as well as QA as it pertains to sampling, handling and testing of cannabinoid drugs. Suzanne:

What is next in terms of your research? In what direction are you looking once your PhD is completed this year?

Pritesh:

I am considering several options at the moment. I will continue to do research but from a slightly different perspective. I am personally interested in the plant cannabinoids as they may hold tremendous therapeutic benefit and represent an untapped source of potentially novel medications. I will stay on as consultant for Quantum 9, Inc. which is one of few companies out there that are legitimately interested in helping patients in the long run. Personally, I envision operating a company with a research facility in the state of Kentucky which will be heavily focused on the development of medications from plant cannabinoid extractions and perform laboratory testing for cannabis samples once this bill is passed.

Like AltMed, Vida Cannabis has assembled its own team to produce pharmaceutical-grade marijuana.

One of the key members of the Vida Cannabis team is Pritesh Kumar, a doctorate degree holder who also has a master’s in pharmacology.

Kumar has published research on the body’s endo-cannabinoid system, which has been shown to regulate a broad spectrum of physiological conditions, from regulating appetite to experiencing pain.

His published work and more that is planned are aimed at helping Vida Cannabis build credibility in the medical community, Wilson said.
