I got a phone call from one of my best friends from college. His uncle had just told him a story about how he was invested in Green Mountain Coffee in the mid 90's when the stock was in the .20-.40 range (this is a NASDAQ company we're talking about).
Go look at Green Mountain's chart. Unfortunately for the uncle, he sold his position (at the time worth $100K) for a small gain. He was in his early 30's. Had he held and recognized the value of the business he invested in and the long-term goals, he would've been a billionaire today.
I suppose the moral of his story to my friend was: don't let greed impede your judgment. If you could make $2 million today, or $100 million in ten years, which would you choose?
