In July 2013 (for my birthday), my fiance' and I went to Punta Cana. We planned on just taking it easy and relaxing on the beach, but after the first day we realized that we are not the kind of people to sit still - so we signed up for a bunch of excursions.
On Wed, we were supposed to be buggy riding, but wound up on the wrong bus and were headed up the mountain to do zip-lining instead. I immediately phoned my personal butler, and he said not to worry about it - he would make the switch - and we would just do the buggy ride on Thursday.
At zip-lining, those who wanted pictures had a piece of tape put on their safety helmets. As my fiance' and I went from platform to platform, a storm came by, so I pulled her off the side to wait it out (no way was I going to climb to the top of a metal tower on top of a mountain in a foreign country during a thunderstorm).
A bunch of people passed us, and when there was a break in the storm, the guide told us we had to go...since we were now at the very back of the picture group, and if we didn't, we wouldn't get pictures. So we went. When we hit the next platform, they haulted everything.....but not before another couple landed on the platform with us.
So the husband asked first where we were from, and then I returned the introduction. When he said "Michigan", I turned to my fiance' and literally said, "Watch This."
When I asked if they were near Willow Run, they said "Yes". When I asked about Kalitta, the wife said she works for Kalitta. When I asked if she ever heard of Baltia, she told me "Of course", as she was the one in charge of ordering parts for the planes as they moved through the C-checks.
We traded e-mails, and another friendship - and another contact - was made.
What are the chances - with all the things that led up to that chance meeting - that we would meet that particular couple in a foreign country while they were on their week long honeymoon?
Seems more like fate than a series of so many weird co-incidences to me......
(LOL.....Benster will now say that "That is exactly the definition of 'co-incidence!".
BTW.....the reason I turned to my wife and said, "Watch this" is because my life always seems to be a bunch of very weird co-incidences that have brought me to where I am today. As soon as I heard the word "Michigan", I knew I was in one of those situations....I just didn't know how far this particular situation was going to go.
And......upon my return....I upped my investment by another $100K.........
