Lights off! Candles on! That's the idea behind Earth Hour, which happens around the world from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. local time Saturday, March 28.
Over the last eight years, Earth Hour has grown from a symbolic "lights out" event in Australia to an annual global event celebrated in 7,000 cities in 163 countries. It encourages individuals, businesses and communities to turn off their lights for 60 minutes to show support for actions that will help stop climate change.
