DALLAS, March 2, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The 16th annual Empty Bowls benefiting programs of the North Texas Food Bank, will be held on Friday, March 6, at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. This signature event will feature soups and other bowl-friendly fare from 20 of North Texas' top restaurants and food purveyors. As a memento of the day, attendees also will have the opportunity to select a handcrafted bowl created by a local artisan.
"It is hard to believe that Empty Bowls is celebrating 16 years," said Jan Pruitt, president and CEO of the North Texas Food Bank. "Our supporters tell us that they look forward to this signature event that combines the best in local fare with works of art created by talented local artists. In 2014, Empty Bowls raised $175,000 -- which translated to 525,000 meals provided for hungry children, seniors and families across North Texas."
This year's event will feature food stations with bites from 20 local restaurants, including first-time restaurants Meso Maya, Snappy Salads, Ten 50 BBQ, The Green Door, Urban Crust and Zoe's Kitchen, as well as prior participants Empire Baking Co., The Mozzarella Co. and The Place at Perry's among others.
Bowls featured at the event will be curated by Trinity Ceramics under the leadership of Owner David Cramer, a longtime supporter of the North Texas Food Bank and Empty Bowls, and Kroger will return as the presenting sponsor of the 16th annual Empty Bowls.
