Wow, it would seem that slide failure is not that uncommon. If these things don't deploy in optimal circumstances on the ground it would seem from a policy prospective the staff should be trained to adapt and take the next steps necessary to successfully evac the passenger's and crew. As LT mentioned last night explaining why we didn't see slides on the left because the scenario is set by the FAA there is fire on the left so that explains why there were no slides on the Left side of the plane. Okay so forced to exit from the right. What's the next step? ...Keep your cool and evacuate the plane from the right. Another variable presents itself 2 of 5 slides on the right don't deploy. Evac must be coordinated via the remaining slides. In an emergency situation; damage to the plane etc. slide failure and doors not opening has to be a very likely scenario.
