As per the 122 p USA iron mining report i posted recently- it is from the 90's-but ca 22 usa beneficiation plants
and as per same report almost all USA iron has 40-60% silicates ,which has to be reduced via floatation -and if i remember right in 1 example even after such there were still 23% silicates-
which are contraindicated i believe for fert- which to answer bashers continual destructive blasting of everything without ever providing solutions- would be why u dont hear about fert in connection w USA iron mines -whereas China ships organic iron fert to the USA as per the link below-organic meaning no synthetics like oil based products.
CWRN has less than 2% silicates i believe as per the posted report re CWRN's fert posted by myself and others many times in the past
So CWRN in 2011 was in discussions w OMRI- a private organic fertilizer certification entity which also acts a clearing house or yellow pages for fert buyers sellers and processors but doesnt have its own warehouses etc.
Even discussion re possible JV fert plant on site for processed pelletized iron can,as per CWRN in 2011 bring 330-550/ton
as per following link chelated iron fert brings 1850 plus /ton- would not expect that processing by or for CWRN
As per the April 2012 PR the trommel was acquired to separate 0-1mm byproduct into .5-1mm sinter fines (85% of price of regular iron) and .5mm minus fert but as per bingos 9-8-12 post they were then required to add USA to export permit which wasnt then possible due to contested Mex Pres elections and followed by lameduck govt etc.
Eyewitness reports and pics would indicate some inventory as well as probably some fert has been sold in the last year or so- possibly internally within Mexico- didnt see any ships anyway but hard to locate all such ships w limited ship site info and wasnt focused on fert ships -fert would logically go to USA -as CWRN planned in 2011-esp Portland Oregon or to Mexico.
Iron prices have apparently contributed to a shutdown in operations -cant produce forever without shipping - which shouldnt be a surprise at these iron prices- big boys are purposefully flooding the market to eliminate competitors just as Saudi Arabia is doing w oil- as witnessed Oct 1 by at the time we -at least i-thought it was due to a series of unprecedented storms and hurricanes which passed thru in sept 2014 -
iron cannot be mined or processed in wet conditions-thus Australia and Brazil iron mines are often shutdown for weeks due to storms w last such just 2 days before the Oct 1 visit by Leross/rkc -though that storm didnt deposit much if any precip at the mine-and even without that, level 4 hurricane simon passed over the mine 1 week later and was already on radar i believe
while i believe their longterm plans were still beneficiation- some type of diversification
