My friend was sick for a week before the hospital diagnosed it as pneumonia and finally got him on the right antibiotics.
Another friend was told by the doctor that her daughter had some sort of wheezing sound and needed antibiotics -- no diagnosis of the offending bug was given. The hope is that the wheezing is gone after the antibiotic treatment period.
With the ability of the N-Assay to test for multiple bugs at a time, I hope that eventually, an assay can be developed using the N-Assay that will eventually be able to identify the more 'common' bugs. Obviously the first assays to hit the market will be for those that cause the most harm (GBS, sepsis, etc.).
