The Baken shale has opened up lots of oppurtunities for  small oil companies like OREO  due to the new technologies out there

Investing in a small cap oil stock based in famously (or infamously) anti-oil California would sound like a bad idea but American Liberty Petroleum $OREO  is actually focused on a couple of oil prospects in the decidedly pro-resource extraction state of Nevada. These Nevada oil prospects include the following:

  • The Gabbs Valley Prospect. This oil prospect is located on the 26,000-acre Cobble Cuesta structure in Nye County (stretching roughly north of Las Vegas and east of Reno) which by some estimates, represents oil reserves in excess of 4+ billion barrels. However and even if only a fraction of this estimate ends up being found, it will still be among the largest oil accumulations in the western US.

  • The Kibby Flat Prospect. This oil prospect consists of 7,270-acres in the Monte Cristo basin located about 135 miles southeast of Reno. According to a September 2008 report, the prospect could have an estimated ultimate recovery (EUR) amount of as much as 669 million barrels of oil.
