What will be interesting to see, though, is how many TV brands have got new 4K content stories to talk about given how far 4K ‘software’ is currently lagging behind the hardware. See The Trouble With 4K: Where’s The Content And Will It Be Any Good When It Gets Here.
The ability to handle the recently unveiled Amazon UHD service (detailed here) may be a key battleground, as could NanoTech’s UltraFlix Ultra HD service if it makes more of an effort to spread its influence outside of the USA.
It will be interesting to see how much the key TV brands use exclusive movie packages – either on hard disk or via streaming – to try and persuade people to buy their 4K TVs. Similarly it will also be interesting to see how Hollywood fares at getting more 4K film masters into public circulation.
